Sadia Uqaili

As an award-winning artist, filmmaker, and nonprofit founder, Sadia utilizes art to inspire, motivate, and heal. Born in Pakistan, educated in Canada and the UK, and migrated to the U.S., she has received awards for her art from the Internationale d’art Miniature, Winnipeg Printmaking Exhibit, National Federation of Pakistani Canadians, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the World Heritage Festival, and the Chicago South Asian Film Festival. She is a proud member of the Asian American Documentary Network, Brown Girls Doc Mafia, Mezcla Media Collective and chairs the Arts and Culture Subcommittee of Lahore, at the Chicago Sister Cities International.

Rachel Dickson

Producer

Rachel Dickson is an independent filmmaker with a background in journalism and Spanish translation. She produced and recorded sound for POV’s Let the Little Light Shine, which premiered at True/False Film Fest and was nominated for an Emmy and a Peabody, as well as ‘63 Boycott with Kartemquin Films, which was named on the Academy Awards shortlist for Best Documentary Short Subject. Dickson was a field producer for Hard Earned, a Kartemquin Films production which won the Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University Award. She was a 2021 Sundance Institute Creative Producing Fellow.

Vaishali Sinha

Vaishali is an award-winning director and producer from India. She is a co-founder of Bichitra Collective, and is Rockefeller Foundation’s 2023 Bellagio Center Residency Program Fellow. She’s also served as a mentor for Kartemquin Films, Firelight Media, HBO and Gotham Media Institute. She has won a Critics Choice award in India, multiple festival jury awards, and been nominated for the British Grierson Award and the Ridenhour Prize for Excellence in Truth-Telling.

Gordon Quinn is the founder and Senior Adviser of Kartemquin Films. He was the executive producer of the Oscar-nominated documentaries Edith and Eddie, Abacus: Small Enough to Jail and Minding the Gap. Some of Quinn’s other documentary credits include Home for Life, Inquiring Nuns, Taylor Chain, The Last Pullman Car, Golub, Hoop Dreams, Vietnam, Long Time Coming, Stevie, In The Family, Refrigerator Mothers, Milking The Rhino, and The New Americans.

Maheen Zia

Maheen Zia is a Karachi-based filmmaker, whose work has aired on Al Jazeera, Nat Geo, NHK, Geo Television Network, Aaj Television and Samaa Television. In 2008, she received the Berlin Today Award for her short fiction film Match Factor and in 2015, her feature length documentary Lyari Notes premiered at IDFA. She has produced documentaries for WWF and IUCN Pakistan. She taught filmmaking at the University of Karachi, and has led workshops in rural Sindh and in Lahore.

David Cawley

David is a UK based cinematographer, shooting drama, commercials, promos and documentaries around the world. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual Communication, taught by fine artists, designers and filmmakers he has gone on to shoot many award winning projects. David’s passion is in storytelling and he tries to use the camera to communicate powerful emotions through his images.

Tanya Hoshi

Tanya Hoshi is an award-winning Canadian filmmaker with over a decade of experience producing films, web-series, digital content and advertisements. In 2023, Tanya produced her first feature film WE WILL BE BRAVE which won the Audience Choice Feature Film Award at the Reel Asian International Film Festival. She also produced the short documentary TURNING TABLES (Hot Docs 2018), which was acquired by CNN. Tanya is a youth-leader in the Zoroastrian community, earning her the Outstanding Youth Award at the 2022 World Zoroastrian Congress in New York City.

Vaishali is the director and producer of award-winning feature documentary films MADE IN INDIA and ASK THE SEXPERT.  And Development Consultant for Academy winning documentary short PERIOD.END. OF. SENTENCE. She has received multiple festival jury awards, a Critics Choice award in India, Grierson Awards nomination for Best Entertaining Doc and a nomination for Ridenhour Prize for Excellence in Truth-Telling.

Esteban began making films with peers at the University of Houston and working with local production companies on everything from commercials to event documentaries to even set building for music videos. Although he has worked in many aspects of the industry, he specializes as a director of photography.
